Carrie Helminger

Carrie completed her training in Ithaca, New York and spent the first 17 years of her career working in the Seattle area. For twelve of those years, she worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic, while taking numerous and varied continuing education courses, which gave her the wide array of techniques she uses in her practice.

Carrie became a Certified Manual Therapist (CMT) in 2012 through the North American Institute of Manual Therapy (NAIOMT).  Carrie has a strong background in strength and conditioning, thanks to her experience as a nationally competitive rower in college, as well as competing in road races and triathlons post-college. She believes in an approach that uses a combination of manual techniques, with targeted exercises and education to get clients back to doing what they love.

She is well acquainted with the hips and lumbo-pelvic region, arthritis, and total hip replacements due to the personal experience of having bilateral hip replacements at the age of 34 due to developmental dysplasia.

After having two kids, Carrie spent 3 years working as a PT/OT in a school system. This gave her a wonderful chance to gain a new skill set and work with children, particularly those with disabilities.

In July 2021, Carrie moved with her husband and two young kids to the Kootenays to get closer to all the activities they love, including hiking, mountaineering, biking, and skiing in all forms. She is very grateful to be in the Kootenays and working at Creekside.
